Guild spamming
*sigh*
So we get trade over to trade chat. Now all i ever hear in local chat is "We love [FFF] recruiting 2346 faction guild 1mil alliance (we're gud) cape + hall (zomg) whisp for invite!!!!1!!one!!"
(oh and ingame that's spammed WITH THIS BUTTON ON.)
Don't tell me to turn local off. Why should i? It's local, so that i can talk to other people. Answer questions and whatnot. I don't see why i need to turn it off to avoid the spam of some twat FFF guild leader.
I suggest making a new channel for guild recruiting or something, so that local can finally meet it's intended purpose.
Spamming GTFO.. please.

Of course, people would find ways around it that would be just more annoying, but that would limit their character count by having to alter their message.
I don't see why not, a lot of the messages could be filtered into it.

how about a better idea like instead of just being invited to a guild you have to go to a guild manager(npc) and there is a list of guilds with a description then you pick the one you like.

There is a Guild option in the Party Window. I think they should just tell recruiters to use Trade chat. Then just do what they did to other spammers; hand out short bans.

That way people in a guild don't have to see it, and people that are actually looking for a guild can go there.

You want to have random conversations about stupid stuff in local chat, they want to advertise their guild in local chat. You have no place to tell them not to do so. Sorry QQ more imo

The convo's i've had in shing jea monastery are much better than "stupid stuff". There's no need to disagree with me in every thread i post in for your own pathetic gain. Local was never intended for endless spamming.
I would /report every idiot doing this for spamming.. but no, i would be banned for "abuse of this feature".

If they made an Alliance chat channel, then it'll get spammed by people selling, or just for the sake of spamming. Then people will spam both local AND alliance to promote their guild. Basically, it's a bad idea. We don't need any more chat spam, and adding that would double it.

I have nothing to gain by disagreeing with you. I've always been against changes to local/whatever chat- see all the old threads about the trade chat changes and such. Local chat is for everything, chuck norris jokes, legit newbies asking for direction, bad players giving their bad opinions on the game, trash talking, lorefaginess, guild recruiting, cyber sex, and so on. If this continues it's just going to be a few people talking about a topic that could easily be continued via pm or in a less populated town/guild hall. I honestly think people need to QQ more, it's not an attack at you.

Most other games also occasionally recruit through the main chat, but GW with only a max of 250 players per zone somehow suffers from a lot more spam in the chat.
Even now the WTS ... is limited only to \/\/TS.
And GW doesn't even have people asking for buffs.
This may be because GW has no say channel, in other words a channel for earshot.
Most chat goes through the general chat, but the pleasant conversations about items and builds, and Luxon NPC warriors dressing like SM slaves are supposed to go there anyway.
I know! there should be a LF(X) channel, moving the "Guild LF members" and the "W/Mo lvl 20 LFT", from the general chat into it's own tab.
That way the general chat is free of the PuG requests as well as guild requests, that might finally leave room for *cough*intelligent*cough* conversation with strangers; which believe it or not is one of the things I enjoy most about MMO's.
